Strata: One Platform, Every Trade Business

Most software built for one trade business stays built for one trade business. A plasterer gets a website. A roofer gets a quoting tool. A builder gets a job tracker. Three different vendors, three different logins, and none of the three improve unless that specific business pays for the next version.

Strata started as a single build — a redesign for ProCoat NZ, a plastering and re-cladding crew working the Bay of Plenty. It became something bigger almost by accident: the same quote pipeline, the same texture visualiser, the same job tracker that made ProCoat's site work turned out to be exactly what the next trade business needed too. So instead of rebuilding it from zero, we made it multi-tenant.

Now Strata is a Trades OS — every tenant gets their own branded site and admin system on the same underlying platform. Quoting, scheduling, invoicing, and a texture/product visualiser where it applies. Each business's data stays fully isolated from every other tenant on the platform; nobody sees anyone else's jobs, customers, or numbers. But when we ship an improvement — a faster quote flow, a better mobile view, a new automation — every tenant gets it at the same time, not just the one who happened to ask for it.

ProCoat NZ is tenant #1, still running the platform that started it all. Phase 2 is underway: an AI ops layer that does more of the office work a small trade business can't justify hiring for — the quoting, the scheduling, the invoice chasing that eats a tradie's evening after a full day on the tools.

That's the actual argument for owning your stack instead of renting five different ones: the platform gets better as it grows, and every business on it — not just the biggest one — gets to keep up.
